Often sustainability is thought of in terms of simple recycling. However, recycling is only one piece of practicing being "Green". In many cases, it takes more energy and money to recycle some materials because of the time and expense of collecting, resorting and reprocessing them. Simply "recycling more" is not enough; recycling is only effective when practiced along with reducing and reusing. Triumph Expo & Events incorporates the following procedures and processes into our purchasing and production. We work hard to have a positive influence on our environment.
TRIUMPH RENTAL UNITS (TRU-X)
All of Triumph's Rental Units are reusable. TRU-X products include, but are not limited to, registration counters, sign-in counters, computer kiosks, entrance units, publication bins, display counters and modular display units.
Triumph display rental units and management counters are supplied with energy star lighting. We have also retrofitted our offices and warehouses with new, energy efficient lighting. Not only do we save kilowatts, we also save money on our energy bill!
Triumph is on the leading edge of incorporating green and sustainable practices into our graphics production processes. Our Wide Format UV Cure Flatbed printer allows us to print directly onto the new green substrates such as EcoPlast, a PVC free alternative to Sintra or Komatex. It is a superwhite, highly opaque styrene that meets ASTM standards for biodegradability. Other available materials include Insite biodegradable foamcore, and EcoTrans, a biodegradable backlit material.
Once printed onto these surfaces and dried, the ink becomes an inert substance, resulting in a 100% biodegradable product. We are partnering with our vendors to bring eco-friendly materials and processes into our production workflow to meet the graphics needs of our clients and minimize the negative impact on our environment. Additionally, we strive to re-purpose used signs and other panels as packing and crating materials, and other internal uses, putting them to work again and keeping them out of our landfills.
Triumph reuses showsite wastebaskets. Each wastebasket is lined with a compostable wastecan liner that is made of at least 30% post recycled product and cleaned with biodegradable chemicals. Compostable liners are standard with our rental wastebaskets.
Our tables are made of wood and metal. They are very durable and reusable. Triumph recycles table top vinyl and is currently exploring the option of a vegetable based vinyl substitute for topping tables.
Triumph's primary method of exhibitor kit distribution is done via E-Kits or online ordering. In rare cases where paper kits are required, Triumph uses 100% post consumer recycled paper, if client approved. Our CSR show-site service centers use recycled paper to produce on the spot exhibitor invoicing and exhibitor notifications. In addition, we educate our exhibitors to limit what they ship to show-site and to take extra products with them when they leave or to notify us so we can donate usable items and recycle what we can.
RECYCLING / REUSING CARPET
Triumph is pro-active in working with local non-profit organizations, like the Boys & Girls Club, for the reuse of carpet that is no longer used in shows. We have also adopted a recycle program where 100% of carpet that has passed its useful life is returned to the carpet manufacturers and then recycled. We have been reusing and recycling carpet for several years. Per our request, our carpet vendors have increased the percentage of recycled material they use in carpet they provide.
RECYCLING/REUSING OTHER MATERIALS
Triumph has long been collecting, sorting and recycling products left behind on the show floor. In addition, we make arrangements with local organizations to donate usable items that are left behind. This is a simple method to reduce waste and reuse products that may otherwise end up in a landfill.
Bio-degradable cleaning products are utilized for cleaning our "re-usable" products. Our cloth (drapery & skirts) department uses detergent that is biodegradable and a steamer for stain removal.
If we are given sufficient time for purchase of items such as carpet, drape, etc. we ship by rail, which assists with air quality. Triumph provides employees that use public transportation with Flex passes that can be used for the local trains and bus systems. Additionally, Triumph partners with local contractors for items not owned and provided by Triumph. All exhibitor and show management freight is stored in one location and transported to and from the venue at one-time, minimizing transportation and thereby continuing to assist with air quality. When available, Triumph utilizes Electric Forklifts for material handling. Our customer service, freight management and small equipment storage boxes, as well as many of our hand carts have been designed and built by Triumph with renewable wood products.
Triumph uses and reuses interoffice memo envelopes, recycles all catalogs and graphic paper products. We recycle all print cartridges, cans, paper, cardboard boxes and plastics. Janitorial supplies: toilet paper, paper towels and napkins have post-consumer recycled content. Triumph washes and reuses the silverware, glasses, mugs and plates provided in the employee lunch rooms. Triumph's alarm system monitor controls not only the alarm system but also the heating and cooling cycle which we keep at a green friendly level - including not running at night or on days when the office is closed. Triumph purchased a water filtration system to supply clean, healthy water and negate the need for plastic water bottles.
SHIPPING & PACKING MATERIALS
Triumph makes available upon request, shipping and packing materials made of biodegradable materials. We are in the process of making this our standard.
